Programme objectives

The reasons for establishment of the programme emerged from the urgent need for graduate education (Master studies in Intellectual Property Law) in the region of South Eastern Europe as indispensible tool to professionals in achievement of intellectual property rights (IPRs) protection appropriate to EU standards. The present situation is associated with a high degree of IPRs infringement and piracy, although the legislation is in accordance with the EU legislation.

The studies take place at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje, Iustinianus Primus Faculty of Law. The LL.M. programme premises are technically equipped for the purpose of organization of the studies.

The European Intellectual Property Institutes Network (EIPIN), which is composed of:

  • Centre for International Intellectual Property (CEIPI) at the University of Strasbourg;
  • Magister Lucentinvs at the University of Alicante;
  • Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute London, and
  • Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC), LL.M. Programme
  • Maastricht  University Intellectual Property Law and Knowledge Management (IPKM)  

contribute to the programme by providing visiting professors and scholars with outstanding expertise in IP teaching.

Students that will graduate at the studies are expected to implement their knowledge in their work as IPRs professionals (in companies, enforcement agencies, judiciary, IP agents etc.) and deal with various aspects of intellectual properties rights protection. The project is expected to achieve higher degree of IPRs protection and reduction of infringement cases, as well as higher awareness for the importance of intellectual property.
